Fertility evaluation
Understanding why pregnancy may be taking longer, with investigations planned around your history and age.
Dr Vidya Shetty is a gynaecologist at Narika with a special interest in fertility and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. She helps women understand exactly what is happening in their bodies — from irregular cycles and PCOS to difficulty conceiving, endometriosis and fibroids — and then builds a treatment plan around their goals.

Many of the women Dr Shetty sees have already spent months, sometimes years, trying to make sense of painful periods, irregular cycles or a pregnancy that is taking longer than expected. Her first priority is clarity: a careful history, the right investigations — and nothing more than you need — and a plain-language explanation of what the results mean.
When surgery is the right answer, laparoscopy allows many gynaecological procedures to be performed through small incisions, which typically means less pain and a faster return to normal life than open surgery. When it isn't, she will tell you so, and explain the medical options instead.
At Narika, Dr Shetty works in the same conversation as our psychologist, physiotherapist and dietician. Fertility journeys can be emotionally exhausting, pelvic pain often needs physiotherapy, and PCOS responds to food and movement as much as to medication — so the right colleague is brought in at the right time, sharing the same notes.

See this planA fertility assessment is generally recommended after 12 months of regular unprotected sex without pregnancy if you are under 35, or after 6 months if you are 35 or older. It's sensible to come sooner if your periods are irregular or absent, or if you already know of a condition such as PCOS or endometriosis. You can book an assessment with Dr Shetty at any of these points.
Laparoscopy is surgery performed through a few small cuts in the abdomen using a thin camera and fine instruments. It can be used both to diagnose conditions such as endometriosis and to treat problems such as ovarian cysts or fibroids. Compared with open surgery, recovery is usually quicker and less painful. Dr Shetty will explain whether it is the right option for you.
No. Many women with endometriosis conceive naturally. Endometriosis can make conception harder for some, which is why a plan that considers both symptom control and fertility goals matters. Dr Shetty can assess your situation and discuss the options.
